Dr. Marty Shoemaker

Dr Marty Shoemaker (Dr Shoe) joined the Chaplain Council of the Kwantlen Polytechnic University Multi-Faith Centre in 2013 as a Humanist chaplain. Marty is a semi-retired psychologist and organizational consultant of 50 years but has been developing his encore career as a volunteer spiritual care professional at a local university and Vancouver General Hospital. Assisting both students looking for meaning with a secular worldview or helping patients and staff in times of need is Dr. Shoe's current path as a humanist ambassador for the last decade.

He is a member of the British Columbia Humanist Association, Humanist Canada, American Humanist Association, Humanists UK and Humanists International. Although the growing numbers and exposure of Humanism is most encouraging, writing this book on Inclusive Humanism is a project to see our exposure grow worldwide though a donation-location strategy initially to multifaith centres and other institutional libraries and readers of many cultures.

Outside of these activities he is a very proud father, grandfather, fly fisherman, sports spectator, and aging golfer. He lives, works and enjoys life in Vancouver, Canada for the last 45 years, with a sense of gratitude and commitment.
